Hispanic Outreach Group

The rising Hispanic population in Fulton County, Georgia adds new facets to law enforcement efforts.  The District Attorney's Office and other law enforcement agencies have taken great strides to embrace diversity in our growing community, with the understanding that there is much to learn about all people in our efforts to make Fulton County a safer place to to live, work and  do business.  The rise in burglary in Fulton County is not isolated; we have seen increases in residential and commericial burglaries in most all municipalities and burglary victims of every demographic including neighborhoods with a large Hispanic population.  Law enforcement agencies have encountered a number of barriers to making arrests and closing cases in predominantly Hispanic communities resulting in or furthering feelings of apathy or distrust of law enforcement.  We must take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the Hispanic community to reach our goal of reducing burglary by 30% County wide.  Our Community Advisory Board study will be used to develop best practices to be used in law enforcement interaction with members of the Hispanic community.  The Committee is comprised of DA's office staff members and recognized leaders and members of Fulton County's Hispanic community.
