Community Awareness and Prevention Campaign

Summary

The board will help organize and implement Project Secure. Project Secure is a burglary prevention program that will provide complete home burglary protection using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) methods.  The Board  will comprise a team of companies willing to educate and provide communities with the tools necessary to prevent, deter and stop burglaries.  The team would travel and promote security using a large prevention truck to bring attention to the importance of safety.

Plan Program

Identify several companies for each category of prevention team businesses; Identify a roll out date; organize logistics.

Program Components

Compile companies to participate including Nationwide Insurance; Locksmith; Landscaping;  Fencing Company; Specialty Company (ex. Door Jamb Armor); Storm Door & Window company; Alarm Company; Video Surveillance Company; Lighting company; Window Blinds/Covering Company.
Have Project Secure truck attend community burglary prevention seminars, provide home inspections, give suggestions to make a home burglary safe, and give on the spot quotes for services based on home inspections;
Provide product samples, promotional products, and product information handouts;
Offer discounted pricing for residents who encounter the company through the MJBTF
Provide each community with one free burglary proofed home as a sample (elderly or family in need).

Goals

Reduce burglary incidents by making community more difficult to penetrate
Increase burglary arrest by teaching communities how to work together and protect themselves.
